Your Shortcut on the CAP Intervention for Reducing the Carbon Footprint in Arable Crops

The intervention aims to support farmers and eligible entities across Greece in adopting practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the carbon footprint of arable farming.

With a reported budget of around €96 million, the measure is expected to provide annual per-hectare support to compensate for income foregone and additional costs linked to climate-friendly practices. Eligible actions typically include improved soil management, more efficient fertiliser use, reduced emissions from field operations, and the use of digital tools for monitoring and record-keeping, within multi-annual commitments.

CARBONICA moves in the same direction by supporting farmers and SMEs in Greece, Cyprus, and North Macedonia through training, digital tools, and business development services focused on low-carbon and regenerative farming.

By helping producers understand carbon-reducing practices, monitoring requirements, and sustainability frameworks, CARBONICA strengthens their capacity to engage with policy-driven climate measures such as this CAP intervention and to transition toward lower-carbon arable systems.
