Mr. Grigoris Chatzikostas from RFF, the Coordinator of CARBONICA, participated in the Widening Impacts Spring 2025 Webinar Series, where he presented CARBONICA’s journey, titled “From Idea Conception to Post-Project Ambitions and Vision”. The session took place on March 28, 2025 and covered the proposal’s background, project development and execution, and future ambitions, highlighting key characteristics, lessons learned, and how challenges were converted into solutions. This webinar has been part of an initiative by the SolarHub project, with which CARBONICA has established an ongoing synergy.

A webinar titled “Measuring Carbon, Growing Change: Technical Insights into Carbon Determination” was held online on 23 May 2025, as part of CARBONICA’s capacity-building activities. Hosted online, the session featured experts from Goce Delčev University of Štip and focused on cost-effective soil carbon determination methods, laboratory validation techniques, and challenges related to the digital transition in environmental monitoring.


- AgFutura Technologies at 92nd International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, Serbia, 17-22 May 2025
The CARBONICA project was showcased from 17-22 May 2025, at the 92nd International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, Serbia, one of the most prominent agricultural events in Southeast Europe. Represented by AGFT, CARBONICA participated in this high-profile event, which brought together thousands of stakeholders from across Europe and beyond. As part of the fair’s program, AGFT presented CARBONICA’s innovative work on sustainable agriculture and carbon farming practices, emphasizing the project’s role in advancing climate-smart solutions within the agri-food sector. The event fostered valuable dialogue on the integration of science, policy, and practical applications to support a greener and more resilient future for European agriculture.

CUT, Open University Lectures, March 5, 2025
CUT organised a lecture in Paphos on March 5, 2025, titled “Use of Space Technology in Agriculture”, as part of its series of Open University Lectures for the public. During the presentation, projects and initiatives from ECoE and CUT related to agriculture and the environment were showcased, focusing on adapting to climate change. Specifically, the discussion highlighted the use of space technology and smart agriculture systems made available to farmers, which add value to the agricultural sector by supporting decision-making and promoting sustainable development. At this point, carbon-sequestering agriculture was emphasised, together with CARBONICA, which aims to promote carbon farming in the Mediterranean region.

On April 10, 2025, MARDE/ARI hosted a school visit at the Achelia Experimental Farm in Cyprus, welcoming primary school students from both Cyprus and Greece. During the visit, the students were introduced to research conducted at a national level, as well as the European project CARBONICA, explained in an accessible and engaging manner.

YPEKA participated on February 4, 2025, in an Info-day in Athens, Greece, focused on the Extension of the Emission Trading Scheme – Developments. The Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy, Directorate for Climate Change and Air Quality Unit for Market Mechanisms and GHG Emissions Registry was represented at the event, using the opportunity to disseminate the objectives and insights of the CARBONICA project. Another partner, AGFT, participated in “A Green Path to EU Integration” event on February 26, 2025, at the Faculty of Economics at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, delivering a lecture on “Creating and Managing Sustainable Food Systems in the EU”, where she highlighted CARBONICA as a key initiative for sustainable food systems and disseminated its objectives and insights to the audience.
- i-BEC at the 2nd European Carbon Farming Summit, March 4-6, 2025
i-BEC actively participated in the 2nd European Carbon Farming Summit, held in Dublin between March 4-6, 2025. During the summit’s poster sessions, Mrs. Daphne Kitsou presented her research on “Changes in Soil Organic Carbon through Nature-Based Solutions”, contributing to the conference’s discourse on carbon farming advancements. Furthermore, i-BEC participated in the 1st Panhellenic Conference of Agricultural Advisors, held on March 8, 2025, at the Joist Innovation Park in Larissa. The conference served as a key platform to emphasise the crucial role of agricultural advisors in the evolving digital and green landscape and to promote innovative solutions within the agrifood sector.

On March 13,2025, PSK, ECoE, and CUT participated in the 1st Annual Meeting of the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS), held at the Hall of Events Presidential palace in Cyprus. This participation provided an opportunity to engage with stakeholders and share the project’s contributions to agricultural knowledge and innovation.
- i-BEC at the Eleventh International Conference on Remote Sensing and Geoinformation of Environment, March 17-19, 2025
i-BEC participated in the Eleventh International Conference on Remote Sensing and Geoinformation of Environment (RSCy 2025), which was held in Paphos, Cyprus, in March 17-19, 2025. Mrs. Daphne Kitsou delivered an oral presentation of her work on “Increasing soil organic stocks through nature-based solutions (NBSs) for climate mitigation and agricultural sustainability”, highlighting the role of NBSs in increasing soil organic stocks and their application in the CARBONICA project.

During the RSCy2025 conference, the CARBONICA’s Stakeholder Dialogue: Advancing Carbon Farming in Agriculture was held on 19 March 2025 at the Aliathon Resort in Paphos, Cyprus. Organised by ECoE and CUT, the event brought together a diverse range of stakeholders, including government authorities, policymakers, farmers, researchers, NGOs, and community representatives. The discussions centred on innovative carbon farming strategies aimed at fostering collaboration to promote more sustainable agricultural practices. Key topics covered included research developments and solutions to build a more resilient and sustainable future for agriculture.

On April 9, 2025, the CARBONICA Excellence Hub was featured during the session “The Role of Excellence Hubs in Regional Development” at the International Conference on Renewable Energy Systems (ICRES 2025) in Thessaloniki, Greece, which focused on Solar Technologies. Mr. Grigoris Chatzikostas, Coordinator of the CARBONICA project, participated in a roundtable discussion on project collaboration, promoting innovation in the Greek ecosystem, and stakeholder engagement. This session was co-organised by four (4) HE Excellence Hubs: CARBONICA, COALition Hubs, ECHO Energy Excellence Hub, and SolarHub.


- UGD at the 11th International Conference “New Trends in Chemistry”, April 25-27, 2025
The CARBONICA project was actively represented at the 11th International Conference “New Trends in Chemistry” (ICNTC 2025), held from 25–27 April 2025 in Bologna, Italy. UGD participated with the presentation of the paper titled “Unlocking Soil Health: Carbon Determination in Agricultural Soils”, highlighting CARBONICA’s contributions at the intersection of carbon farming, analytical chemistry, and climate action. The conference provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange with leading experts across Europe, facilitating visibility for CARBONICA’s research and opening avenues for future scientific collaboration. This participation reflects the project’s ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable innovation and cross-disciplinary dialogue in the field of carbon management and soil health.
- RFF, i-BEC at the GREENSMARTMED Transnational Cooperation Event, May 27-28, 2025
The CARBONICA project was actively represented at the GREENSMARTMED Transnational Cooperation Event, held on 27–28 May 2025 at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) in Thessaloniki, Greece. During a dedicated session on “Reducing the Environmental Footprint in the Agri-food Sector & Carbon Farming”, Mr. George Papapostolou from RFF and Mr. Giorgos Galanis from i-BEC presented CARBONICA’s cross-border vision for an Excellence Hub in Carbon Farming, involving Greece, Cyprus, and North Macedonia. The event brought together regional stakeholders and experts to advance sustainability in Mediterranean agriculture. CARBONICA’s participation contributed to the exchange of innovative practices and reinforced the project’s commitment to low-carbon solutions in agri-food systems.


- ECoE at the PRIMESOFT training workshop, January 14-16, 2025
Furthermore, the project participated in the PRIMESOFT training workshop organised by ECoE, held at the Cyprus University of Technology in Phassouri, Cyprus, from January 14 to 16, 2025. During this event, the objectives and recent activities of CARBONICA were highlighted. Participants visited the Cyprus Phassouri Plantations Co. Ltd. and explored the methodologies implemented by the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, including the CARBONICA Field Diagnostic Toolbox. Discussions emphasised opportunities for data exchange and collaboration, particularly in monitoring the adaptation and carbon storage potential of oak forests to combat climate change.
- RFF at the 2nd European Carbon Farming Summit, Dublin, March 4-6, 2025
RFF participated in the 2nd European Carbon Farming Summit, held in Dublin, Ireland, from 4 to 6 March 2025. The project was featured during a dedicated workshop on CRCF Business Models, organised by Agroinsider, the COVERE2 project, and CARBONICA. Mr.George Papapostolou and Dr Athanasios Arampatzis from RFF delivered an engaging presentation on CARBONICA EH to an attentive and interactive audience. They emphasised the project’s distinctive regional perspective and highlighted the potential of a carbon farming business model based on #sustainableagriculture practices and practical, real-world applications.


CARBONICA participated in an open educational seminar titled “Carbon Farming: New Business Opportunities in the Agricultural Sector”, held in Chrysoupolis, Kavala, on 29 November 2024. Organised by the DigiAgriFood project, the event provided a valuable platform for both initiatives to exchange updates, share progress, and discuss data related to their activities in advancing sustainable and innovative practices in agriculture.
