Advancing Together: CARBONICA’s Second General Assembly Convenes in Skopje, North Macedonia
The second general assembly of CARBONICA, a groundbreaking project aimed at revolutionising carbon farming innovation, was held on April 18th, 2024, in Skopje, North Macedonia. Representatives from partners spanning all 3 ecosystems, Cyprus, Greece, and North Macedonia were in attendance, underscoring the project’s robust collaborative spirit and commitment to driving progress in carbon farming practices. During the Assembly, partners jointly evaluated the progress achieved thus far, strategically delineated future steps, and proactively addressed forthcoming challenges. The commitment and collaborative synergy among the partners were evident and promising.
In conjunction with the General Assembly meeting, two additional important events were held. On April 17th, 2024, the Stakeholder Dialogue on Reducing Agriculture’s Carbon Footprint, organised by AgFutura Technologies, aimed to contribute to the future of carbon farming, new technologies, and synergies. It brought together a diverse group of key stakeholders from across the spectrum of sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation. The day was marked by insightful speeches and discussions, showcasing CARBONICA’s endeavours, accentuating the importance of carbon farming, and highlighting innovative approaches crucial for shaping the collective agricultural landscape, both within the scope of carbon farming and beyond.
Subsequently, on April 19th, 2024, a training session on the CARBONICA Toolbox took place at the Goce Delcev University experimental fields in Shtip, North Macedonia. Led by our partner Interbalkan Environmental Center, the session offered participants a comprehensive understanding of utilising the CARBONICA Toolbox for field sampling and measurement. The session also underscored the pivotal role of this technology in bolstering the Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system and methodology within the context of carbon farming certification.
CARBONICA, a four-year initiative, seeks to foster collaboration and innovation within the carbon farming ecosystems of Cyprus, Greece, and North Macedonia. At the heart of the project lies the establishment of the CARBONICA Excellence Hub (CEH), a cornerstone for driving excellence and innovation in carbon farming practices across the three countries.
With a steadfast commitment to sustainability and innovation, CARBONICA is poised to transform the landscape of carbon farming, paving the way for a greener, more resilient future.
