During the second half of the first year of implementing the project, the i-Bec team in collaboration with ESYD (Hellenic Accreditation System) partners started the discussions for the development of the MRV tools aligned with international ISO standards. The integration of MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) tools aligned with international ISO standards, particularly ISO 14064 and ISO 14040, adds a valuable layer of credibility to the methodology. ISO 14064, as part of the ISO 14000 family, is indeed essential for monitoring, reporting, and validating greenhouse gas emissions.
It provides a framework that can be applied at both organizational and project level, making it useful for various entities. ISO 14040, on the other hand, encompasses the entire life cycle assessment process, including scopes, goals, life cycle inventory methods, life cycle impact assessment methods, and the process of life cycle interpretation. This holistic approach ensures that the methodology considers environmental aspects throughout the entire life cycle of a product or process. The versatility of ISO standards demonstrates their adaptability to various entities and scenarios.
This adaptability is crucial in addressing the diverse challenges and contexts that may arise during the implementation of environmental initiatives.
