NEA is a national public body established by the Law on Establishment since 1998, and its employees have the status of civil servants. Within the 8 regions NEA has 30 local offices countrywide staffed with 67 agricultural advisors and HQ located in Bitola.
The Agency provides advisory services to farmers and other economic operators in the primary sector aimed at achieving efficient and competitive agricultural production and sustainable rural development as well.
The services are provided through transfer of information, knowledge and skills to the clients for adoption of technologies and practices for sustainable production. Also helps farmers to better understand requirements for good agricultural and environmental conditions as well as supporting IPARD funds and other national schemes.
In addition, NEA is responsible for collecting accounting data from Agricultural Holdings for the purposes of the Farm accountancy data network (FADN).
